A Team That Shows a Lot of Heart
The Generals had a home game against a team that showed great skill with possession and moving the ball into open space. They dug out a tough first half with aggressive play and pure effort along with the help from Cam Darlington who had a strong outing as keeper in the first half. My friend who plays keeper for my teams went and watched the game and sent me a text stating, “That goalie Cam is very good!” The half ended with a close and competitive score with NEFC up 1-0, on a questionable offside goal.
Half-Time Adjustments
Keep a closer mark on the opponents to disrupt their passing possession. Throughout the season while the opponents have the ball, the Generals will at time give the opposing team 5-7 yards of space which is an area to work on.
Tyler and Connor filled in at keeper in the second half and were a bit rusty after not playing as consistently lately, letting in a few easier goals. At one point, NEFC were up 4-0 and looked like they had the game in control. The Generals never gave up, with aggressive defense and pure intensity, they were able to grab two goals which were scored by Cam Darlington and Connor Lachance. With The score 4-2 and momentum switching, the pressure continued until the very end of the game. The final score ended 5-2 with NEFC winning, but they played 60 minutes of strong, competitive soccer.
Players of the Match
Players of the match go to Cam Darlington and Braydon Tata. Cam had a strong half in goal to keep the game within reach, making a few key saves that kept the score at 1-0 going into halftime. He came out in the second half with tremendous defense and scored one of the two goals, which helped create a major momentum shift in favor of the Generals.
Braydon stepped up his game today with strong aggressive tackles, and quick decisions when in control of the ball. His ability to pressure the ball on the defensive side tightened up the holes as a team and created turnovers for our counter attack.
It’s always great to have a team that never gives up, no matter what the score!
