Great Season Growth

The final game of the season was played against the same team that the Generals played in the first week and lost with a score of 6-0. With several weeks of training, but the Generals were a different team this time around. Strong right from the start, the boys were fighting hard to gain possession with physical tackles and pressure on the ball. The outside midfielders of Danny, Ryan, Braydon, and times Tyler once again were a key component  to the team defense and attack by running nonstop to get out wide with possession and then recovering goal side on defense. Cam was aggressive in goal in the first half coming out of goal on a couple of break-aways and also with some quick reflection saves heading toward the net. Alvyns play up top was once again a top notch, with many runs to open space and opening up the game with some great passes to his teammates. Ben’s ability to get into the attacking half put pressure on their defense which created multiple extra chances in our attacking third. With a goal from Alvyn off of a nice individual move, the Generals went into half with a 1-0 lead.

Half-Time Adjustments

Keep playing hard and don’t let up. There wasn’t much that was discussed during the half time since most of the game showed great decision making, hard effort and the Generals focusing on current expectations as a team. We wanted to play the second half just like the first and focus on cleaning touches on the ball, but other than that it came down to not letting their opponents work harder than them in the second half. The second half continued to be just as exciting, with REAL Boston tying up the game, and then a few minutes later scoring the go ahead goal. The Generals continued their attack with a few great shots from Alvyn, Cam and Connor while attacking from top. With about five minutes left to go in the game, Braydon put great pressure on their defender and was able to win the ball back, then made a quick heads up play to pass the ball up to Alvyn. Alvyn was able to receive the pass and place it nicely past the goalie tying up the game. The game ended with a 2-2, but the big win came from the amount of progress the Gunners made throughout the season with their dedication to make improvements and their hard work during training sessions. Great way to end the season!

Players of the Match

Players of the match went to Mason Mandraccia and Connor LaChance. Mason had a strong first half on defense by covering a lot of ground and winning some important tackles on the counter attack. His most important moment came in the second half when the score was tied 2-2 with an incredible penalty kick save. Connor seemed to be back to his old self in this final game. His attacking play put a lot of pressure on the other team's defense, he created many great chances by finding the open man up top, and most importantly his ability to clog up the middle of the field by maintaining his position and shuffling side to side on defense as the other team attacked.
